Our Fellow

Yahya Yok Perukas

Semai

Kampung Ras RPS Pos Jernang, Sungkai, Perak

Raising his voice for community justice since age 13, Yahya serves as Youth Chief of the Perak Orang Asli Village Committee (JKOANP), working to secure recognition and gazette status for customary land territories. A creative writer whose work has been exhibited internationally including at the Venice Biennale, he is both a fighter and a poet, offering the fellowship a uniquely powerful perspective on what Indigenous leadership can look and sound like.

the Allyship Pledge

We recognise that a sustainable, thriving future is inherently relational and reciprocal. As signatories, we accept our shared agency and responsibility in shaping such futures.

We will, therefore, take action and begin from where we are. In Malaysia, this starts with principled, intentional, and meaningful allyship with the Orang Asli.

We therefore commit to stand with the Orang Asli as allies: to listen with humility, show up in solidarity, and walk alongside them in their pursuit of justice, equity, and self-determination – whether as those who call Malaysia home, or as guests upon this land.
