Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Buloh, Selangor

Hanim is an entrepreneur, artisan, and community leader. As the founder of Asli MakIntan Enterprise, she creates original Orang Asli handicrafts and lifestyle products, while also promoting and selling the work of fellow Indigenous makers. Beyond her enterprise, she advocates for Indigenous rights and youth empowerment, becoming the first Orang Asli to represent the Asia-Pacific in WHO’s climate and health consultations. She also contributes to the Weaving Hopes initiative, which harnesses arts and culture to address climate change and empower Orang Asli women and youth at both local and global levels.

the Allyship Pledge

We recognise that a sustainable, thriving future is inherently relational and reciprocal. As signatories, we accept our shared agency and responsibility in shaping such futures.

We will, therefore, take action and begin from where we are. In Malaysia, this starts with principled, intentional, and meaningful allyship with the Orang Asli.

We therefore commit to stand with the Orang Asli as allies: to listen with humility, show up in solidarity, and walk alongside them in their pursuit of justice, equity, and self-determination – whether as those who call Malaysia home, or as guests upon this land.
